Volunteers are a crucial part of the work we do each day. They have been the backbone of our organization from the beginning and allowed us to keep our administrative costs low so more of our donations can go to animal care. From dog walking to fostering, to cleaning, to working in our Thrift Store, there is something for everyone, and it all supports our lifesaving mission.
Ways you can help:
At the Animal Shelter
The animal shelter in Madisonville has a minimum staff. The animals need more care and attention than the staff can provide. Some of the tasks at the shelter are dog walking, socializing, cleaning, doing laundry and front desk work. Volunteering just a few hours a week is a huge help.
Transporting Animals
In an effort to find homes for as many animals as possible, dogs and cats are transported to rescue destinations, most often out of state, where they are quickly adopted. Drivers, who can also load and unload the animals, are needed for these transports.
Foster an Animal
Foster homes provide temporary homes for animals in need.
Adoption Events
Three or four times a year there is an adoption event (e.g. at a Petsmart store). Volunteers are needed to tend to the animals throughout the day. Usually this is for 3 hours on a Saturday.
Communication and Fundraising
Have experience, or an interest, in fundraising? This is an important function for any non-profit. Like to write (e.g. newsletters)? We can use your help for a couple hours a week..
System Administration
We can always use volunteers with information system experience
Administration
This need is basically for clerical help, anywhere from 1 to 3 hours a week.
Thrift Store
Salespersons and cashiers are always needed at our Thrift Store on Rt 411 in Madisonville. Normally a 3-hour shift one day a week is asked.
Board of Directors
Get involved in planning and policy…serve on our board.
